What it is needed for

An adult foreigner signs the application for a residence permit in MOS personally - with a trusted signature or a qualified electronic signature (Art. 106d para. 3 of the Act on Foreigners). You make a trusted signature through Profil Zaufany (Polish government e-ID).

Condition: a PESEL number

Profil Zaufany (Polish government e-ID) is confirmed on the basis of data that includes the PESEL number (Art. 20c of the Act on Computerisation). Without a PESEL number you cannot confirm Profil Zaufany - in that case you need a qualified electronic signature to sign the application. We help prepare the PESEL application in the Start in Poland service.

How to confirm Profil Zaufany

  • At a confirmation point. This function is performed by the voivode, the head of the tax office, ZUS (Social Insurance Institution), NFZ (National Health Fund) and the consul. The point checks your identity on the basis of a document - this may be a passport or another document that unambiguously confirms the identity of the person with the PESEL number. That is why you go there in person.
  • Through a bank. If your bank offers such a service, and its login method confirms your first name, surname and PESEL number, you can confirm the profile yourself, free of charge.
  • With a qualified electronic signature, if the signature certificate contains your PESEL number.

Confirmation by video call compares your image with the Identity Card Register (Art. 20cb), and the personal profile is in the Polish identity card - so these methods are for people with a Polish identity card.

Technical breaks

Do not leave signing to the last day of your legal stay. Profil Zaufany (Polish government e-ID) has planned technical breaks, and the MOS portal announces them in its news - a break on the day of the deadline may make it impossible to submit the application.

Profil Zaufany (Polish government e-ID) is yours alone. Only you know the login and password - do not give them to anyone, including us. We help you prepare for confirming the profile and book a visit, but you confirm it yourself.
