MOS - residence application online

From 27 April 2026, applications for a residence permit are submitted electronically in the MOS system. We have put in one place everything you need to know before and after sending the application.

We handle cases remotely across Poland.

MOS (the Polish case handling module) is the portal of the Office for Foreigners: mos.cudzoziemcy.gov.pl. It is used to submit applications for a temporary residence permit, a permanent residence permit and an EU long-term resident residence permit, as well as applications for the CUKR residence card. An application for temporary residence submitted in any way other than through MOS is left without examination - apart from a few matters that are still handled on paper.

Start with the guide how to submit an application in MOS, and then move on to the topics that concern your case.

How to apply

You submit an application for temporary, permanent or EU long-term resident residence only through MOS. Step by step: account, form, attachments, signature, UPO, certificate and the office visit.

Account and login

Who can create an MOS account, how to log in through login.gov.pl, which e-mail address to give and why a proxy cannot use your account.

Profil Zaufany

Profil Zaufany requires a PESEL number. Where to confirm it (voivodeship office, tax office, ZUS, NFZ, consul, bank) and how to sign an MOS application with it.

Signature and proxy

An MOS residence application is signed by the foreigner or by a parent, guardian or curator. How the signatures differ, what a proxy can do and how much a power of attorney costs.

Annex No. 1

The employer fills in Annex No. 1 to a temporary residence and work application in MOS through a link from an e-mail. When it is needed, what it contains and how to sign it.

Photo and attachments

UPO and certificate

The UPO confirms that the application reached MOS. The voivode's certificate with a QR code replaced the passport stamp. When you get them and what they are for.

Fingerprints

After an MOS application the voivode summons you to the office for fingerprints, a specimen signature and showing your passport. Deadlines, exceptions for children and the ill, consequences of not attending.

Common mistakes

A late application, the wrong purpose of stay, an omitted criminal record, a fictitious address, a bad photo, uncollected summonses. A list of MOS application mistakes and how to correct an application.

Applications outside MOS

Intra-corporate transfer (ICT), family reunification from abroad, a family member of a Polish or EU citizen from outside Poland, a change of a residence and work permit - these are paper applications.

Legal stay after applying

After you submit an application on time and without formal defects, your stay is legal until the final decision. When this protection does not apply, and what about work and travel.
