The permit is linked to the university
A permit for studies is granted for studies at the university indicated in the application, and the voivode notifies that university of it (Art. 144 para. 1 and Art. 149 para. 2 of the Act on Foreigners). The rules do not provide a separate procedure for "transferring" a permit to another university.
What happens when you change
- When your current university removes you from the list of students, the rector notifies the voivode without delay (Art. 149 para. 3).
- The voivode may then withdraw the permit (Art. 148 para. 2). A permit is also withdrawn when the purpose of stay for which it was granted has ceased (Art. 101 point 1).
- With a further application, the voivode may refuse a permit if you were removed from the list of students (Art. 147 para. 3).
How to prepare
- Check whether the new university is approved to admit foreigners or not subject to approval (Art. 144 para. 1).
- Submit in MOS an application for a new permit for studies at the new university before your legal stay ends (Art. 105 para. 1). Submitting the application on time and without formal defects gives you legal stay until the decision (Art. 108 para. 1 point 2).
- Keep the documents on admission and tuition payment at the new university.
Every situation is different - when changing, it is worth checking deadlines and documents before leaving the old university. See also removal from the list of students.
